Health Care Programme 2004–2009

The Finnish health-care system is facing serious challenges. The population is ageing and the demand for health-care services is rapidly increasing. Local authorities must provide every citizen with speedy access to care within a definite period of time regardless of their place of residence or financial status.

Striving for what is best for the public

Sitra's Health Care Programme is looking for new solutions to improve the standard of health services and to make the sector even more effective.

The objectives of the Programme are
  • to improve the status of customers
  • to increase the profitability and effectiveness and the co-operation between the public and private sectors
  • to promote comprehensive use of new technologies and services
  • to generate new business in Finnish and international markets.
