The Energy Programme makes venture capital investments in the establishment and growth phase of companies alone and as a co-investor with private investors and funds. Focus of the investment activities is in energy technologies and services in the following fields:
- energy efficiency – buildings, communities, traffic, industrial processes
- clean energy production
- energy transfer, distribution and storage.
The size of initial investments is typically from €0.5 to €2 million and Sitra will adopt the role of an active minority shareholder in the portfolio companies.

Norrhydro specialises in planning, manufacturing and selling hydraulic cylinders. Most of the products are client-specific specialty cylinders used, for example, in mobile work machines and in solutions for the marine/off-shore industry and heavy industry. The company is working on a new product concept based on digital hydraulics, with the intention of launching it in 2010–2011.

The company designs and manufactures wireless communication systems, especially for the energy industry. The company specialises in smart systems that are used for automatically monitoring and controlling the electricity distribution network and energy-intensive facilities.
