Tourism RDI Outlook

The project aims to enhance the visibility and impact of research, development, and innovation (RDI) activities within the tourism sector in Rovaniemi area, with a focus on strengthening the capacity of companies to leverage research data, innovations, and RDI funding. Led by the City of Rovaniemi, the initiative brings together key RDI stakeholders, financiers, and tourism enterprises in the region. The project will analyse collaboration between businesses and RDI actors, identify development needs and barriers, and supplement findings through company interviews. Through a series of workshops, participants will establish a shared understanding of the current landscape and define future development priorities and pilot initiatives to improve the sector’s ability to utilise RDI and invest in product development. The expected outcomes include a common RDI outlook to support increased investment, enhanced cooperation between research and industry, and strengthened renewal and competitiveness of the tourism sector. Additionally, the project will introduce new operational models and launch innovation projects targeting growth-oriented companies, thereby contributing to the sector’s long-term sustainability and European added value.
