The role of foresight is growing in an era of surprises and overlapping crises. In today’s world, understanding the bigger picture of changes, imagining alternative futures, and having the tools to utilise foresight knowledge are more critical than ever.

Sitra’s foresight work explores Finland’s futures, current changes, and emerging phenomena beneath the surface. Our Megatrends, Weak signals, and Futures barometer publications reach tens of thousands of readers. We also act as a rapid foresight partner, providing analysis, foresight, and insights to address foresight needs arising from Sitra or Finnish society. We open windows into the future and create pathways towards sustainable solutions.

In addition to knowledge, we offer tools for applying foresight insights. We support decision-makers, organisations, and individual citizens in imagining alternative futures and taking action based on foresight knowledge. In doing so, we strengthen futures thinking across society and improve foresight capabilities in decision-making.

We also bring together future-oriented organisations through the national foresight network. Our efforts aim to ensure that the future dialogue reflects an increasingly diverse range of voices and perspectives.
