The OIVA project is developing and deploying a shared technical foundation that ensures that solutions align with European initiatives and fully leverage common digital infrastructure.
Rather than creating separate solutions for every industry, OIVA builds common digital tools that can be reused in different sectors and countries.
The shared technical foundation is integrated to the project’s pilot applications in vehicle recycling, construction permitting, and financial auditing.
The following technology blocks are being created in the context of the OIVA project to automate compliance:
Data spaces are secure environments that allow organisations to share information while remaining in control of their own data.
Instead of sending copies of data to multiple parties, organisations can share information under clearly defined rules about who can access it, for what purpose, and under what conditions.
Digital Product Passports (DPPs) provide structured digital information about products, assets, or materials throughout their lifecycle.
They can help track where products come from, how they are used, and whether they meet regulatory requirements. In OIVA, Digital Product Passports support automated compliance checks and improve traceability in sectors such as vehicle recycling and construction.
The European Digital Identity Wallet enables organisations and professionals to prove who they are and share verified information securely.
Instead of repeatedly submitting the same documents, users can share trusted information only when needed and only to authorised parties. This makes digital transactions more efficient while protecting privacy.
The wallet supports a European vision of trusted digital services that work seamlessly across borders.
A major challenge in regulatory compliance is translating complex legal texts into practical actions.
OIVA develops AI-powered tools that help bridge this gap. These tools combine legal expertise and artificial intelligence to support the transformation of regulations into machine-executable formats.
The tools include:
OIVA is designed with privacy, security, and trust at its core. The project uses privacy-preserving technologies that allow organisations to demonstrate compliance without necessarily exposing all underlying data. Access to information is controlled, activities can be audited, and users decide what information is shared and with whom.
The technical foundation also follows recognised European frameworks and standards to ensure that data can be exchanged securely and consistently across countries and sectors.
OIVA is closely aligned with major European initiatives focused on digital identity, data sharing, interoperability, and regulatory innovation. This ensures that the technologies developed in the project can be adopted more widely beyond the initial pilots.
