I work as Interim Director of Foresight and Training at Sitra. My role is to ensure that Sitra’s strategy creates real societal impact through our foresight and training work. I want to help ensure that decisions made in Finland are future-proof, and that foresight is genuinely practical and useful for society at large. Above all, we must learn to act wisely in a world that is changing ever faster, and this is where foresight and societal training play a vital role.
I recently earned my doctorate in social sciences. My dissertation examined how European technology leaders perceive society and democracy, and how their views differ from those of their counterparts in the United States and Silicon Valley. I have more than 15 years of experience in futures work across the public, private and non-profit sectors. I am energised by action and concrete outcomes. In my view, good futures work always asks how, by doing things differently, we can build a better tomorrow.
