Book release: Sustainability and the Future of Education

Our schools should educate children who think: I can be part of solving the world’s most pressing issues.

Climate change, inequality, sustainability crisis.

The challenges facing our societies are complex. Therefore, our school systems should educate children who think: I can be part of solving the world’s most pressing issues.

This is the action statement of an international research group of the Education in a Changing World research project, which states that building a sustainable future and learning future skills should be the most important task of education.

A book published in co-operation with Palgrave Macmillan, Sustainability, Human Well-being and the Future of Education raise considerations of the future of education. This open access book explores the key dimensions of a future education system designed to enable individuals, schools, and communities to achieve the twin twenty-first century challenges of sustainability and human well-being.

The event is hosted by Sitra’s Jenna Lähdemäki-Pekkinen.

Welcome!
