The countryside is thriving anew and gaining momentum! This is your chance to contribute to illustrating this new demand! The purpose of the Brändää Provinssi photography contest is to create high-quality original material that can be used to depict the new roles of the countryside. The contest is organised by Sitra’s Landmarks Programme.

New opportunities are emerging in the Finnish countryside. There also is a new type of demand for the countryside, but the stock of images to showcase these opportunities is lacking. The countryside produces new and competitive business and service models that meet not only ever-changing individual needs, but also global sustainability challenges.

What will the countryside of the future be like, and what needs should it meet? What will its attraction be based on? How about your countryside? Do you find it somewhere by the metro rails, in the Lappish wilderness, on the plains of Ostrobothnia – or on a plate in a gourmet restaurant? Take part in our contest!

The contest is open to professional photographers and enthusiasts alike from all around the country.

Assignment

The participants are invited to take high-quality images that illustrate a new type of visual thinking about the countryside. The images should be suitable for use in various contexts. The programme, themes and rules of the contest are available in finnish or swedish at www.brandaaprovinssi.fi.

Prizes

First prize: EUR 5,000
Second prize: EUR 3,000
Third prize: EUR 1,500

By unanimous decision, the jury may divide the total prize sum differently than stated above.

Period of entry

The contest is closed. The winning entries selected by the jury, as well as the winner of the popular vote, will be announced on 8 September 2011.
