European Commission invited Esko Aho to lead a group of experts

The expert group will provide the European Commission with advice on the reinforcement of EU research and innovation performance

European Commissioner for Science and Research Janez Potočnik invited Sitra’s President Esko Aho to lead a group of experts on reinforcing EU research and innovation performance in the face of globalisation. The purpose of this expert group is to provide the European Commission with advice and views on a number of issues relating to the reinforcement of EU research and innovation performance. Other members of the group are Mr. Antoni Subira, Catalonia’s minister of industry, Mr. Jo Cornu, Chairman of the Commission’s information technology advisory group and Mr. Luke Georghiou, Professor of Manchester Business School. The group will deliver its report to the Commission by 15 January 2006. The work is part of the follow-up to the Hampton Court informal summit of EU leaders.
