Jani Kaarlejärvi, 28, has been appointed Special Advisor to the President of Sitra, effective from 10 April 2006.

Jani Kaarlejärvi, 28, has been appointed Special Advisor to the President of Sitra, effective from 10 April 2006.

Kaarlejärvi holds Master of Administrative Sciences and Master of Social Sciences degrees from the University of Tampere and a PhD from the Political Economy Research Institute at the University of Sheffield. His doctoral dissertation on economic and fiscal policy coordination in the context of EMU was examined last autumn.

For the past three years, Kaarlejärvi has been a researcher at the University of Sheffield and Max Planck Institute for the Study of Societies in Cologne, Germany. Previously he worked as an assistant, researcher, lecturer and consultant at the University of Tampere and a project secretary for the Association of Finnish Local and Regional Authorities.
