Oilon International Oy, a family business in environmental and energy technology, based in Lahti, Finland, has acquired the entire share capital in Oy Scancool Ab. The new owner provides Scancool with excellent opportunities to develop business related to industrial heat pumps and refrigeration facilities in the domestic market and especially in the export market.

Since October 2009 and with the venture capital investor Wedeco, Sitra has been involved in developing Scancool from a traditional contracting and service company in the refrigeration sector into a technology company that supplies energy-efficient industrial heat pumps. The industrial heat pumps developed by Scancool have achieved a significant market share in Finland, and the export business has also been launched well.

“We find this corporate acquisition significant for the development and internationalisation of Scancool. The respective business of Scancool and Oilon complement each other very well,” says Sami Tuhkanen, Senior Lead, Sitra’s Energy Programme.
