WCEF2024 will mark the eighth iteration of the forum and occurs at a pivotal moment for economies, societies and our planet. Bringing together leaders from business, government, academia and civil society, the forum will transform circular economy knowledge into tangible actions.

The World Circular Economy Forum 2024 will feature the most impactful circular solutions from around the world, guided by the latest scientific evidence. The programme is designed to facilitate targeted discussions around governance, finance, people and employment, and business and innovation – the key enablers that drive the implementation of circular solutions on the ground.

A novelty for this edition are hands-on workshops and collaboration with two major players in Brussels: the European Circular Economy Stakeholder Conference who deliver a European track to the main event, and the Belgian Presidency of the Council of the European Union who will curate a full day of accelerator sessions on 17 April, including site visits to circular economy companies in Belgium.

WCEF2024 will encourage Europe and leading countries around the world to continue accelerating towards circularity and raise ambition by putting nature and people at the heart of it. Advocating for a global just transition to a circular economy, this global collaboration platform facilitates a participatory spirit of playful discovery, genuine learning and cross-sectoral, geographically diverse coalition-building.

How to get involved

The SQUARE convention centre in Brussels will host the WCEF2024 main event from 15 to 16 April. In addition, accelerator sessions will be held by WCEF collaborators on 17–18 April in Brussels and around the globe.

To enable participation from around the world, WCEF2024 will be live-streamed online, open to all and free of charge. You can also take part in WCEF Studios around the world. Attendance in person is by invitation only.

More than 30 circular economy champions will be selected to join the WCEF2024 Expo at SQUARE Brussels on 15–16 April. The call for applications for expo hosts will be published by January 2024.

The programme details and first speakers will be announced in late January 2024, when the registration starts, and the accelerator menu will be published by early March.

WCEF 2024 is brought to you by the Finnish Innovation Fund Sitra, Circle Economy Foundation and International Resource Panel, in close collaboration with international partners.

What is WCEF?

The World Circular Economy Forum (WCEF) is an annual event organised by Sitra, the Finnish Innovation Fund, with international partners. The forum brings together leaders from business, government, academia and civil society to work on global issues related to the circular economy and to find solutions to the challenges facing the world.

WCEF is one of the world’s leading events on the circular economy, and it provides a platform for sharing knowledge and expertise, building networks and partnerships, and advancing the transition to a circular economy. The forum, held since 2017, has previously been hosted in Africa (Rwanda), Asia (Japan), Europe (Finland and The Netherlands) and North America (Canada).
