Anders Wijkman is an opinion maker and author with a wide range of experience in environmental matters.
He has served as Assistant Secretary-General of the United Nations and Policy Director of UNDP as well as a member of various organizations to advance societal and environmental objectives. He has been a member of the Swedish Parliament as well as the European Parliament. Currently Anders is co-president of the Club of Rome and chairman of the Swedish Association of Recycling Industries. His most recent assignment was as chair of the Swedish Cross-Party Committee on Environmental Objectives with the task to develop a long term strategy for turning Sweden into a low-carbon society. His report in 2015 ”The social benefits of moving towards a Circular Economy” concluded that serious decoupling will bring significant benefits to society, primarily in the form of lower carbon emissions and gains in employment.
