Markku Sjöstedt works in fund investments and Sitra’s portfolio undertakings as part of Sitra’s Venture Capital Investment Team.

What?

Markku’s experience includes a wide range of venture capital investment duties, from pre-seed investments to fund investments. He has gathered experience as a board member at a variety of companies, from the service industry to the machinery sector. Markku is fascinated by how market information can be transformed into market intelligence and how this is further translated into business.

Markku graduated as a chemist from the University of Oulu. In the mid-1980s, he spent the first years of his career in developing printing inks and biodegradable chemicals. For five years, his work also took him to London, where he helped Finnish companies reach foreign markets.

What else?

Markku likes to use the dish-washing and dosing skills he learned as a chemist to prepare meals. He is particularly enthusiastic about cooking complete dinners that require him to learn new things.

He continues to be struck by the photography fever he caught as a teenager, even though the magic of the darkroom is no longer part of the experience in this digital age.
