WSSC Student Ambassador for India, Student , St. George’s College, Mussoorie, India

Paavani is Student Ambassador for the World Summit of Students for Climate (WSSC) for India. By dint of being daughter of an accomplished English teaching mother, she studies in an all-boys residential school founded in 1853 in the beautiful mountainous surroundings of Mussoorie, a famed hill station in India. 

From early childhood, she has been fascinated by her mysterious natural surroundings, and has actively taken part in environmental actions that aim to tackle the onslaught of human excesses on Mother Nature. At the age of just six, she joined the Environment Online 100 Million Trees by 2017 campaign as a volunteer. She also represented India at the Act Now environmental online conference in Joensuu, Finland in 2017. She also launched Envirate (a groundbreaking mobile app for rating environmental quality) in India with its founder, Pekka Harju-Autti, as Dehradun became the first Indian city to be rated for its environmental quality. 

Paavani has also been helping to conduct environmental workshops and raise awareness of the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals among the beauty pageant contestants of Miss Multinational, Miss Teen International, Miss International India and Miss Earth India. 

Paavani became the first student ambassador appointed by the World Summit of Students for Climate (WSSC) when it was launched at the Embassy of Finland in New Delhi on 18 January 2019 by Finnish Ambassador to India Nina Vaskunlahtithe Environment Online (ENO) CEO Mika Vanhanen and the ENO India CoordinatorRajiv K Shrivastava.
