Risto Penttinen is Senior Vice President (SVP), Strategy, People and Performance at Fortum Corporation and he is a member of Fortum Executive Management Team.
Mr. Penttinen has group-wide responsibility for strategy, HR, procurement, real estate and investment portfolio analysis. He has been employed by Fortum Corporation since 2011. He has held the current role since 2016, prior to which he was VP, Corporate Strategy (2014-2016) and VP, Strategic Ventures, Fortum Power Division (2011-2014).
Prior to joining Fortum, Mr. Penttinen was a partner at McKinsey & Company 2005-2011, and acted in other team leader and consultant roles between 1996-2004. At McKinsey, he served energy, basic materials (metals, pulp & paper, chemicals), machinery and the public sector and his expertise and knowledge contributions focused on the areas of organization design and transformation work.
Mr. Penttinen holds a MSc (Economics) from the Helsinki School of Economics. He is a deputy member of the Board at Varma Mutual Pension Insurance Company since 2018.
