This publication is a pre-release version of a chapter in the UNEP Emissions Gap Report 2019. It provides a comprehensive overview of recent ambitious climate actions by national and subnational governments as well as nonstate actors, and a detailed overview of policy progress and opportunities for enhanced mitigation ambition for selected G20 members. The objective is to inform the preparation of new and updated nationally determined contributions (NDCs) that countries are requested to submit by 2020. Sitra has partnered with UNEP to support producing the report.
