RDI Outlook of the Kajaani Innovation Ecosystem

This project aims to deliver a comprehensive analysis of research, development, and innovation (RDI) activities within the Kajaani region’s innovation ecosystem. The initiative places particular emphasis on the data centre sector and dual-use technologies, reflecting their growing significance for regional and European competitiveness. The project will systematically map and analyse the local operating environment, key stakeholders, and ongoing RDI activities. It will identify challenges and best practices in regional cooperation, and foster the development of new experimental approaches, drawing on relevant experiences from other regions. The process actively involves companies, RDI actors, and public sector representatives to enhance collaboration and knowledge exchange. A continuously updated report will provide a clear and current overview of RDI cooperation in the Kajaani region, supporting evidence-based decision-making. The findings will inform regional development strategies and offer timely insights into the opportunities and impacts of RDI activities. By strengthening the innovation ecosystem, the project contributes to the European Union’s objectives for digital transformation, regional cohesion, and sustainable growth.
