Best practices on fiscal incentives to promote a circular economy

  • November 27, 2018 at 2:00 pm - 4:00 pm
  • The European Parliament (Altiero Spinelli building, room A5E-3)

Sitra asked Green Budget Europe (GBE) to look at the Finnish economy and – based on best practices in other European countries and initiatives from OECD, World Bank and other international institutions – produce a set of proposals on fiscal incentives to promote low-carbon and circular economy objectives in Finland.

On 27 November 2018 GBE, together with the Institute for European Environmental Policy (IEEP) and the Ex’Tax Project Foundation from the Netherlands, is organising a high-level seminar discussing the results of a project.

The seminar will include keynote speeches from Mr Janez Potocnik (Co-Chair of the UN International Resource Panel and former Commissioner for the Environment, Science and Research) and MEP Sirpa Pietikäinen (former Finnish Minister for the Environment and longstanding member of the ENVI committee), who is also hosting the event.

An overview of the project results will be presented by the GBE, Ex’Tax and IEEP, followed by comments from Ms Corina Hebestreit (Director of Euromines) and Mr Patrick ten Brink (EU Policy Director at European Environmental Bureau). The event closes with a panel discussion and questions from the audience.

Limited seating, registration latest by Monday 12 November. Due to security rules at the European Parliament, please include the following information as you register: first and last name, nationality, date of birth and number of passport or identity card (please specify which one you use, passport or ID card).
