“Look closely at the present you are constructing: it should look like the future you are dreaming.”
– Alice Walker
What might my version of good sustainable life look like? How might I lead a nature-positive life in a world built on unsustainable foundations?
Welcome to this workshop to learn and share, dream and build a sustainable future here and now, with what we have.
Global heating and biodiversity loss are our shared challenges and solving them requires us to change our way of life. According to a survey by Helsingin Sanomat, more than half of Finns are already prepared to scale down their standard of living in order to address climate change. Yet in many ways the world around us does not yet support a sustainable way of life. We are all having to navigate conflicting expectations and demands.
In this two-hour workshop we will explore together how we might pursue a sustainable lifestyle. What’s challenging about sustainable lifestyle changes? How does it feel to change your life or to be expected to do so? How might we support others and ourselves to lead a sustainable life already today?
The workshop is open to everyone interested in sustainable daily life. Participating requires no prior knowledge or preparation. You will have a chance to reflect on these questions both by yourself and in conversation with others. Come as you are, regardless of how sustainable you think your own lifestyle already is. We’re all on this journey together.
The workshop is a part of Ympäristökevät (Environment spring) programme organised by libraries of Espoo.
