Sitra has invested €3.5 million in Power Fund III Ky and €4 million in Dasos Timberland Fund II, and has made a further investment of €2 million in Palvelurahasto I Ky.
All three funds are domiciled in Finland, but Power Fund III and Dasos Timberland Fund II also operate internationally.
Power Fund III
Managed by VNT Management Oy, Power Fund III focuses on renewable energy technology and technological solutions for reducing the consumption of natural resources. The fund invests in early and growth stage companies, primarily in Finland and Germany, but also in other selected European countries. Power Fund III is well suited to help Sitra achieve its strategic goal of making better use of resources. The fund is the only Finnish operator in its segment specialising in energy technology companies that use more energy-efficient electricity production, distribution and consumption solutions.
Dasos Timberland Fund II
Dasos Timberland Fund II focuses on timberland investment. The Fund’s mission is to generate added value for timberland through the sustainable development and processing of forest resources. The fund creates and promotes new business based on forest resources, which is in line with Sitra’s goals in the field of ecological sustainability. The investment also provides Sitra with access to the fund’s global networks and contacts.
Palvelurahasto I is a venture capital fund investing in private, public and third sector service companies which focus on technical and expert services, information management and remote services, and social and health care services. The fund has the capability to establish new service providers within the public-private sector interface, with the result of increasing and diversifying the services on offer. Sitra’s goals are supported by the fund through the creation of new sustainable business and the development of operating models that reform society.
