Hans Bruyninckx

Executive Director, European Environment Agency

Hans Bruyninckx leads the European Environment Agency, which aims to provide sound, independent information on the environment.

Over the last 20 years, he has conducted and managed research in the areas of environmental politics, climate change, and sustainable development. Earlier he headed the HIVA Research Institute in Leuven, Belgium, a policy-oriented research institute. His experience relates to the regional level, the EU and its Member States, the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD), and processes of global environmental governance.
