Accelerating transition: How cities and regions make a difference
How far could we go simply by scaling up already proven climate solutions? The event draws on key insights from the Nordic Green to Scale for Cities and Communities analysis and different H2020 projects.
Cities are key players in tackling the global climate crisis. For achieving carbon neutrality, close cooperation across all levels of government and civil society is essential. After all, the success of the transition depends on the ability to scale-up low-carbon solutions, involving sub-national authorities to manage this change.
But what are the most effective and cost-efficient solutions for emissions reductions in cities? How far could we go simply by scaling up already proven climate solutions? What kind of governance framework is needed in support? And how can cities’ climate mitigation effort be accounted for (e.g. multi-level NDCs) and hence promoted more systematically?
Drawing on key insights from the Nordic Green to Scale for Cities and Communities analysis and different H2020 projects, the event features representatives reporting first hand on strategy and policy action to scale-up solutions and identify prerequisites for strengthening multi-level collaboration.
