Event description

This autumn’s first HERÄÄMÖ event brings together people interested in complexity leadership. During our time together we will navigate through the theory and practice of complexity with the help of two top experts in leadership and complexity studies, Mary Uhl-Bien (TCU Neeley School of Business in Texas) and Petri Uusikylä (Vaasa University, Complexity Research Group).

Who are our speakers?

Mary Uhl-Bien, Ph.D. is the BNSF Railway Endowed Professor of Leadership in the Neeley School of Business at TCU in Fort Worth, Texas USA. She is an expert in leadership and her work focuses on how to lead in complexity. Mary was recognized in 2019 as the #6 Most Influential Leadership Scholar from 1990-2017, and in 2018 by Poets and Quants as a Top 50 Undergraduate Business Professor. She has been a regular commentator on CNBC’s Squawk Box, and give talks all over the world on her work on complexity leadership.

Petri Uusikylä, Ph.D. has over 25 years of experience in public policy related research, capacity building and evaluation. He is research director at at University of Vaasa (Complexity Research Group) and co-founder of Frisky & Anjoy. Petri is currently also chairman of the of the Finnish Section of the International Institute for Administrative Sciences IIAS and Board Member of the Finnish Evaluation Society.

How can I participate?

The event will be held on Zoom. In addition, we will stream the event live on Sitra’s YouTube channel. On Zoom you will be able to discuss with other participants and meet new people. If you would rather focus on listening, or if you do not have the chance to participate in the discussions, please join us on YouTube instead. Enrol here.

What is HERÄÄMÖ?

HERÄÄMÖ is Sitra Lab’s breakfast series in which we create shared understanding of how we might tackle wicked problems with leading experts in the field. The HERÄÄMÖ events are not only lectures but also contain interactive elements where you can network with other participants and share your own thoughts on the subject. The events are open to all who wish to broaden their horizons in relation to positive societal change and who want to network with others engaged with similar topics.
