The sustainable use of data – the European competitive advantage

The European Commission and Sitra have the pleasure to invite you to discuss the sustainable and fair use of data. The event is for anyone interested in the way data is used for commercial and other purposes in the data economy.

  • February 4, 2021 at 10:00 am - 12:30 pm
  • Online 10:00 am CET / 11:00 am EET

How to boost business with the fair use of data

The EU has compiled an ambitious Data strategy for Europe, with the goal of taking full advantage of data-driven innovation while placing the interests of individuals first in accordance with the European values, rules and fundamental rights. The data strategy provides basic principles on how to develop a human-centric data economy, yet the actual tools for bringing the principles into life are missing.

The event will provide views on how data should be a new dimension for corporate social responsibility, the effort it takes, and the effect it might have on different stakeholders. We welcome decision makers and representatives of businesses, academia and NGO’s to discuss European joint actions in building a sustainable and fair data economy.

The event will explore how sustainable use of data could be a differentiator and a competitive advantage for European companies. We will present examples and good practices for companies and consumers to help navigate in the rapidly evolving data economy. The audience is encouraged to discuss the proposals and the tools presented.
