MyData Global is an international non-profit organisation that aims to enhance people’s rights concerning their personal data. The goal is to ensure the human-driven, fair and ethical use of personal data as part of a sustainable and successful global information society.

The organisation strives to improve people’s right to self-determination regarding their personal data and make it possible for them to transfer their data from one company to another service provider. The sharing of personal data must be based on trust as well as on fair rules between individuals and organisations. MyData Global this month elected its first board of directors.

“The goal of our IHAN project is to engage in broad-based co-operation to establish Europe-wide rules and solutions for the human-driven exchange of data. Membership of the MyData Global community provides us with an excellent network and forum for our ongoing work in this area, and we can reciprocate by contributing towards the achievement of MyData Global’s objectives,” says Jaana Sinipuro, Project Director at Sitra.
