Vaikuttavaa vuorovaikutusta vihreissä investoinneissa

Our goal is to strengthen the ability of municipalities and businesses to make use of tools that improve the effectiveness of their interactions and the quality of processes in the implementation of green investments.

In practice, this means municipalities and businesses have effective and practical ways to collaborate with residents, organisations, and other stakeholders at the right time. The aim is also to develop the necessary skills to make effective use of various interaction models and methods.

Examples of such methods include trust-building collaborative processes, independent mediation models, joint fact-finding (see Akordi’s Green Transition Playbook), citizen panels, and digital platforms, such as Voxit, which can be used to address local challenges related to implementing the green transition.

In addition, we are strengthening the anticipation of investment risks and sensitivities as well as improving the use of this information in municipal and business decision-making.

The project started in early 2026. We are working closely with various stakeholders.

There are a vast number of green investment projects underway in Finland that have significant economic, ecological and social impacts.

When these investments come to fruition, they create much-needed employment and generate tax revenue. At the same time, many of these investments help reduce climate emissions and strengthen Finland’s role in combating climate change both domestically and internationally.

Although public support for the green transition is generally high in Finland, it often raises local concerns, such as worries about the environmental impacts of projects, the equitable distribution of benefits and costs and regional inequalities. Information about projects may be difficult to understand or incomplete, and information based on hearsay may be incorrect. Residents may feel that their ability to influence decisions is inadequate.

For example, project delays caused by appeal procedures result in financial losses for both businesses and the government. We address these challenges by improving interaction and competence and by making more extensively tested methods available to municipalities and businesses.

The work involves Akordi, the Confederation of Finnish Industries, the Federation of Finnish Energy Industries, the University of Eastern Finland, the Association of Finnish Local and Regional Authorities, the Central Union of Agricultural Producers and Forest Owners (MTK), Finnish Renewables, the Finnish Association for Nature Conservation and WWF Finland.
