Growth Atlas

Mapping Finland’s Path to Sustainable Growth – together

What do we do?

Growth Atlas offers a clear, comprehensive view of Finland’s economic landscape and explores ways to foster sustainable growth. Our focus is on long-term development and creating incentives that drive progress.

We publish thought-provoking reports, host roundtable discussions, and organize high-level events. Collaboration is at the heart of our work: we partner with companies, NGOs, and the public sector to identify concrete opportunities for joint action.

Our ultimate goal is to build a shared understanding that supports sustainable economic policy across government terms. To make this happen, Sitra promotes continuous dialogue between decision-makers, experts, and the business community.

How are we doing?

At the heart of the project is an annual publication, Kasvuatlas.

The first Kasvuatlas (Growth Atlas) was published on March 25, 2026. It contains the views of 96 experts on where Finland is currently headed and what should be done to promote sustainable growth. The publication offers more than 200 recommendations for action for decision-makers and other stakeholders to consider.

The publication consists of two parts:

  • The first part examines the foundations of Finland’s growth, and provides a recurring analysis of Finland’s economic capital, natural capital and human capital. This overview is based on statistics, research, and studies, developed with partners.
  • The second part consists of deeper analyses and action proposals on key topics. These initiatives focus on how different forms of capital can be grown and used most effectively. Topics are selected based on societal relevance and partner interest.

In the first publication, the focus is on the following topics: industrial policy, productivity in healthcare, service-based business growth, and the skill and education levels of the adult population. These insights are developed in collaboration with partners.

Why?

According to Sitra’s new strategy, the main goal is to enable constructive and forward-looking dialogue on growth and the economy. Without sustainable solutions to growth challenges, Finland’s social model, well-being, and ecological sustainability are at risk. To support change, we need a shared direction, collaboration, and the best ideas from everyone.

With whom?

The first Kasvuatlas was compiled in collaboration with over a hundred experts. We are currently building a cooperation network and organizing the first discussion events on growth topics for economic influencers. A series of events across Finland is also planned for autumn 2026.
